Staten Island

Staten Island, renamed “Shaolin” by its most famous sons, is the home of the Wu-Tang Clan. Nine MCs from the Park Hill and Stapleton projects, led by RZA, released Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) in 1993 and changed hip-hop forever.

The group's deal let every member go solo, which gave the borough a run of classics: GZA's Liquid Swords, Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx..., Ghostface Killah's Ironman and Method Man's Tical. Inspectah Deck, U-God and Masta Killa complete the crew.

For a borough this small, no place in hip-hop has a bigger mythology: kung-fu films, Five Percent wisdom and some of the most vivid lyricism ever recorded.
