Who is Anderson .Paak?
Anderson .Paak (Brandon Paak Anderson) is a singer, rapper, drummer and producer from Oxnard, California.
Known for
His guest spots on Dr. Dre's Compton (2015) led to a deal with Aftermath. Malibu (2016) made his name, "Bubblin" and Ventura won Grammys, and with Bruno Mars he formed Silk Sonic, whose "Leave the Door Open" swept the Grammys in 2022.
Style
He sings and raps, often from behind the drum kit. Warm, raspy vocals over live funk, soul and R&B grooves with a hip-hop backbone.
Impact
.Paak brought live musicianship and old-school soul back into mainstream hip-hop and R&B, and showed that a rapper can also be a full band leader.
